WHAT'S HOT: The 300S features a thin case that you can place flat on a desk or stand upright with a snap-on support base. Either way, it's a good fit for tight spaces. The clamshell top panel easily pops off to provide access to the interior.
Gateway sent a matching black-and-silver 17-inch VX730 flat- screen CRT monitor with the 300S; it produced beautiful colors and lifelike skin tones when displaying our test photo screen. We also saw crisp, evenly formed letters on our test screens of a newsletter and text of varying font sizes. An efficiently designed on-screen menu provides advanced controls for correcting swirl-like moir distortions.
