Genuity Inc. is moving its headquarters and 1,500 employees into a new corporate center in Woburn, following completion of the two buildings and new traffic ramps off Interstate 93.
The site has been under construction since 1998, and marks a milestone for the company after a busy 2000.
Last year Genuity completed its spin out from GTE with an initial public offering of stock, and launched its new "Black Rock product family, which consolidated several disparate corporate networking services.
Genuity provides businesses with internal computer networking, Internet access, and Internet services such as Web hosting and security. It vies with companies like UUNet and AT&T on the corporate connectivity front, and Exodus for Web hosting, as well as regionally based competitors.
Genuity plans to keep its present building in Burlington. The company also has facilities in the old BBN headquarters at Alewife in Cambridge. GTE bought BBN to form GTE Internetworking in 1997.
