Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks Inc., the country's 10th-largest bank, is considering locations in the Denver area, according to local banking sources.
While talk in banking circles about Sun Trust's move is common, it's unclear which of SunTrust's businesses might locate in this market.
The lender's primary businesses are deposit, credit, trust and investment operations. It's also involved in credit cards, mortgage banking and services related to capital markets.
The Georgia bank looked at the same piece of real estate here as an established Denver bank, according to one executive at the local bank, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
SunTrust wouldn't confirm or deny speculation it might establish a Denverarea operation.
"We haven't announced anything," said SunTrust spokesman Mike McCoy. "And we don't comment...
