The Kansas law firms of Gilliland & Hayes PA and Boyer, Donaldson & Stewart LLP have merged, creating a firm of 22 attorneys in four cities.
Because of Gilliland & Hayes' strong statewide presence - it is headquartered in Hutchinson and has locations in Wichita, Kansas City and Lawrence - the decision was made for Wichita-based Boyer Donaldson to take Gilliland & Hayes' name. The new firm has 10 attorneys in Hutchinson, eight at the Wichita office located at 106 W. Douglas, three in Kansas City and one in Lawrence.
The plan to merge was in the works since February 2001, says partner Mark Maloney. There were frequent meetings and social gatherings between the firms to discuss philosophies and determine whether everyone would get along.
"Everyone wanted to make sure it was a good fit," Maloney says.
More attorneys will be added as the demand for estate and business planning and personal injury litigation increases, says partner John Gibson, who has worked at Boyer Donaldson since 1972. Within six months...
