Elmer's, the consumer glue many of us grew up with, turns 50 this year. In 1947 the first consumer white glue was introduced and marketed by Borden under the trade name "Cascorez Glue." Shortly thereafter, the product was renamed "Elmer's Glue-All," after Elmer, the spouse of Borden's corporate symbol, Elsie the Cow. In 1951, the glue was repackaged in its traditional squeeze bottle with the orange cap, the company reported.
