The Indianapolis-based owner of 17 Indiana nursing homes has forgiven millions of dollars in alleged damages just to see the homes' management company go away.
"It's really a matter of shaking hands and walking away from the situation," said David E. Jose, an attorney with Locke Reynolds Boyd & Weisell, who represented the manager, Atlanta-based GranCare Inc.
The Indianapolis company, Basic American Convalescent Centers, earlier this month released GranCare from its lease on 18 Basic American nursing homes, including 17 in Indiana and one in West Virginia.
