Since 1998, the charity has made gardens for 14 hospices and achieved royal approval, says Geoff Sawyer
When the Prince of Wales praises your work, you must be doing something right. For the Greenfingers Appeal that something is providing gardens for children's hospices across the UK.
The prince spoke via a video at the Garden Industry Manufacturers' Association awards dinner and said how pleased he was that the association was continuing to support the appeal.
"In the past six years, it has made a difference to a number of the 40 or so children's hospices in the United Kingdom,"he said.
"Too often, hard-pressed fundraising teams are focused on raising funds for the building and running of these hospices, with gardens often not a priority.
"However, I have long believed that gardens can play a vital role as places of peace, solitude and calm, and can do much to add life to days when days cannot be added to life.
"I should very much like to thank and congratulate everyone from across all sectors of your industry who have pulled together to support this appeal."
