From an early age, Dr. Cynthia S. Rudert, a board-certified gastroenterologist, knew what her professional calling was.
"My father wanted me to be a doctor, and that appealed to me," Rudert said. "My mom and dad were both major inspirations and encouraged me and my dreams every step of the way."
Rudert, founder of the Atlanta Women's Medical Alliance, is recipient of this year's Health-Care Heroes award in the Physician category. The awards are presented annually by Atlanta Business Chronicle.
"Dr. Rudert has an outstanding track record in serving both the medical profession and the community," said Dr. Walker L. Ray, president of the Medical Association of Georgia. Ray, a pediatrician, nominated Rudert for the award. "While she has made the alliance a force to be admired, she really takes care of her patients."
