HealthVision Inc., Irving, Texas, has acquired the electronic prescription technology of MEDeMORPHUS Healthcare Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Santa Ana, Calif. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. PacifiCare created MEDeMORPHUS last July by combining two electronic prescription vendors it previously acquired-Rx-Connect and Parkstone. MEDeMORPHUS sells software that enables electronic prescription writing via handheld computing devices. The company has contracts with about 1,600 physicians. HealthVision is a joint venture combin ing the Internet services of VHA Inc., Irving, Texas, and Eclipsys Corp., Boca Raton, Fla. HealthVision will integrate the MEDeMORPHUS electronic prescription software with its clinical applications. It also will remotely host the software through the application service provider computing model.
