AlphaGen Capital, the alternative investment management subsidiary of Henderson Global Investors, is lining up the launch of a second instalment of its successful Volantis Catalyst Fund (VCF), an activist strategy focusing on UK small-cap stocks managed by the top-rated former Gartmore smaller companies team that runs around $1.5 billion in the long-running AlphaGen Volantis market-neutral hedge fund and other UK smaller-company funds.
The new VCF 11 fund will also be run by Jamie Brooke, Rob Giles, Adam McConkey and the other members of the firm's eight-strong team at Volantis. It will pursue a similar investment approach to its predecessor, which was launched in May 2013 and has been hard-closed since launch.
