It's been many years since we last reviewed a printer, but this one deserves everyone's attention.
The Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 694C Printer is a thermal inkjet printer with amazing capabilities for a printer that costs only $269.95 !! (Our first printer that we acquired in the late 70s originally cost $20,000; the second printer in 1983 cost $2,300. ... We only wish that automobiles would get better and cost less as well too.
While many inkjet and laser printers have been on the market for some years, our criteria for a printer was that text characters must be at least 600x600 dpi (dots per inch). Many early printers at 300x300 dpi always had the "ragged" look typical of that resolution, and certainly not suited for publishing purposes.
This reviewer's first foray into the H-P 694 series was my son's 694B Deskjet printer, the predecessor to the 694C model. However, the 694C now features a photo cartridge capable of producing near perfect photo quality at 600x300 dpi. Even the standard color cartridge produces top quality results. The 694C installation CD-ROM also includes free software packages.
