Hewlett-Packard rarely disappoints in service and value, and rarely offers the lowest price tag in comparison tests. The DeskJet 895Cse is no exception-it's yet another solid, consistent HP printer. Though it's the most expensive in our group at $400, if it's speed you need and quality you crave, look no further. The first thing you notice about the 895 Cse is that it just feels like a quality machine, weighing in at 12 pounds. And even though it packs a mean punch-the DeskJet won all our speed tests, completing our 15page script in just three minutes in normal mode-it was the quietest printer in the roundup. We almost forgot the unit was on as it hummed along, until we suffered one small paper jam. One in four of our judges preferred the HP's photographic images to the Epson's; there was little to no banding visible, and the 895Cse produced some great skin tones with very little pixelization. Text was well-formed and could easily be mistaken for one of the DeskJet's cousins from HP's LaserJet family, even on plain paper.
