Cover story: Trade Finance Awards for Excellence 2006
The following pages are devoted to the 2006 Trade Finance Awards for Excellence. The results displayed are derived from a readers' poll and online voting through our website. Congratulations to the winners, highly commended, and other institutions mentioned. Our sincere thanks to all those who took the time to vote.
Because of the popularity of the Trade Finance magazine awards process we have had to introduce a number of technical measures to ensure the online voting procedure works both as smoothly as possible and successfully in terms of only legitimate votes being counted. This year we ensured that all counted respondents also entered their full contact details. In examining some of these it is clear that the qualitative nature of those voting remains high - while we have many financial and service institutions voting, the bulk of votes come from corporate voters. In total we had over 3,800 returns.
In an examination of the votes it is clear that many institutions are actively informing some of their clients that the Trade Finance awards process is in full swing. In a busy world we see nothing wrong in reminding people that it is'that time of the year again'. However, there are some key institutions that leave the whole process entirely to chance, and perhaps these are noticeable in their poor performances in categories where they may be known to be much stronger than their positions here may indicate. Polls such as this are subjective and do have their flaws, but they still do provide...
