Judging by beta-test results on a prototype jig grinder, jig grinding has passed through a new threshold of ultraprecision. Moore Tool Co. (Bridgeport, CT) reports consistently holding roundness within 10 pin. (0.00025 mm) and linear accuracy, within 50 µin. (0.00012 mm) with an advanced machine. These accuracies are said by the company to be more than three times better than anything achieved with the best available technology today.
