Bill Hillier's Space is the Machine sets a monumental task. It aims to reveal nothing less than the spatial logic of architecture and cities through an 'analytic' and 'configurational' theory of architecture. Hillier discusses everything from the logic of theory, to the nature of architecture as process of discovery.
