BOYERTOWN - Anyone who has ever bought a house knows the large amount of time involved in the process: looking at homes, shopping for mortgage rates and applying for a mortgage.
Now, through a partnership with Smarter Agent, National Penn Bank has simplified the home-buying process by offering a onestop Internet product.
With one visit to National Penn's Web site, busy customers can check mortgage rates, calculate monthly payments and determine how much house they can afford.
By clicking on a link to Smarter Agent's Web site, they can search for homes online from the Multiple Listing Service and make an appointment with a Realtor.
Ads and links on Smarter Agent's site lead the customers back to National Penn when they're ready to apply for a mortgage. And, if the online mortgage application is sent during business hours, customers can get an instant response.
All this can be done online - on homebuyers' own time, at their convenience.
The links went live June 16.
Already, National Penn has seen more than a 50 percent increase in online mortgage applications, as well as an increase in overall volume.
