Large-format tilt, shift, rise and fall with a standard digital SLR
Despite assurances from the camera manufacturers to the contrary, the megapixel war is far from over. It's safe to predict that SLR-based digital cameras will soon break the 2o-megapixel mark (possibly by the time you read this), while their image quality improves and color reproduction becomes more accurate.
This has put large-format shooters at a disadvantage, forcing them to rely on medium-format camera backs, which continue to carry a premium price-top-of-the-line backs fetch upwards of $30,000. That's an impractical expense for a photographer looking to capture the occasional large-format image.
The Horseman LD (we think it stands for Large Digital) by Horseman is an ingenious solution that brings large-format shooting quickly and inexpensively into the digital age. The kit is essentially a bellows system that utilizes a pro digital SLR as the recording body while any standard mediumor large-format lens can be mounted up front. Any large-format lens with focal lengths greater than gomm can be used, as well as Horseman VCC lenses, the Hasselblad V-system, the Mamiya 645 and lenses for the Pentax 645.
The camera-mount is available in either Canon EOS or Nikon F flavors and securely locks the camera into place, though only certain bodies can be used with the LD (a list of compatible bodies can be found on the company's product page at horsemanusa.com).
