* Vendors aim for IT, management to concur on network expectations

HEWLETT-PACKARD and 3Com this week will each take steps to reposition their network-management offerings to support levels of service agreed upon by IT departments and business management. HP will kick off its IT Service Management Initiative, a sparsely detailed program focusing on helping IT professionals manage services rather than infrastructures. 3Com will combine its TranscendWare software with an application from InfoVista that measures whether a network meets performance goals.
