Abstract

Hewlett-Packard Co.'s PE/SolidDesigner Revision 3.0 is reviewed. PE/SolidDesigner only requires 10 main menu categories for all modeling interaction. The software adheres to strict GUI guidelines. PE/SolidDesigner integrates well with HP/ME10 for 2D layout. One of the most powerful features of this relationship is that the ME10 user has full control of bringing in both the initial view definitions as well as future revisions if the model has changed. Parts can be either individually saved or saved as a relationship to others into an assembly file type naming scheme. When it comes to visualizing the model, the program offers dynamic part rotation in either shaded, wireframe, or hidden-line removed modes. PE/SolidDesigner offers a powerful part checking routine when importing data from such sources as 3D IGES. Powerful graphic features and performance offer modeling visualization unparalleled in the industry.
