AUSTRALIAN WATER STUNT SPECIALIST AND ALL-ROUND MAN OF ACTION, RICK MCCLURE TAKES TIME OUT TO TALK TO GAVIN LUCAS ABOUT HIS ROLE ON BBH'S NEW FISH COMMERCIAL FOR JOHNNIE WALKER.
CR: What's your profession?
RM: Stunt co-ordinator.
CR: How old are you?
RM: 42
CR: How long have you been doing this and what got you started?
RM: I grew up riding and racing motorbikes, my father owned a transport company and also held every Australian power boat title (100ci tunnel boats) and I became his mechanic and test pilot. I taught Hapkido (a Korean martial art) for about 13 years and trained and competed in Korea - I was also president of the Australian Hapkido Association. Scuba diving is something I love and my passion is cave diving. I've dived in cave systems in Mexico, Belize and Florida as well as in Australia doing approximately 10,000 dives. About 11 years ago, a very good friend, Danny Baldwin, a stunt co- ordinator, asked me to teach at a stunt school that he was organising as my knowledge of Hapkido means I can teach fighting, falling, rolls and throwing etcetera. I agreed and after the event he suggested that with my experience and expertise I should be in the stunt industry.
