IBM has introduced a thin IU (1.75inch) server and a new series of server appliances that can provide up to a five-fold increase in the speed of delivering Web content to end users.
The new IBM eServer xSeries 300 (www.ibm.com/eserver) builds on the technology of the x330, a IU server capable of packing two Intel Pentium III processors combining far more than 2GHz of power in a single system.
Designed as a high-volume, entry-level thin server, the eServer x300 is priced under $1,500 and addresses two concerns of many businesses - space and budget. Ideal for easy expansion of Web and network infrastructures, the x300 also includes support for two fixed hard drives.
