IBM, SHARP ULTRASLIM UNITS DON'T HIT ALL THE HIGH NOTES
Nearly all mobile workers have experienced this scenario at some time in their career-squashed into an economy-class airplane seat, attempting to meet a company deadline using a bulky, 7- to 8-pound notebook perched on a foldout tray. Working under these conditions has become the norm, but advances in ultramobile technology can provide adequate functionality and a small, lightweight design.
CRN Test Center engineers evaluated two ultraslim notebooks-the IBM X40 and the Sharp Actius MM20P-that can provide excellent portability for mobile workers, but the small form factors do introduce some drawbacks.
