Ice Miller Donadio & Ryan, the city's third-largest law firm, with 125 lawyers, last week said it has restructured its management. The result: fewer partners doing more managing.
The change comes at a time when law firms throughout the country face rising overhead costs and are trying to figure out how best to manage themselves. Through the 1970s, law firms typically were run more casually than most are run today. Lawyers have realized that "a law firm is a business and should be run like one," says one local lawyer.
