The International Database Marketing Consortium (IDMC) was officially announced at this year's DMA Annual Conference and Exhibition held at McCormick Place in Chicago. Seminar presenter Dick Shaver and publisher Henry Reed Hoke III were busy explaining the launch of IDMC during the show's four day schedule on October 5-8. The expanded support system for all clubs and associations, through Direct Marketing magazine, will now have a seminar system in place, headed by Dick Shaver, for which all local and international clubs and associations can take advantage. The support system is an a la carte menu of services which has been accepted by The Business Marketing Association, The Mail Advertising Service Association, New England Direct Marketing Association, The Long Island Direct Marketing Association, Carolinas Direct Marketing Association, Florida Direct Marketing Association and The Direct Marketing Association of Toronto. It gained wider acceptance during the trade show through numerous meetings with Shaver and Hoke. "I feel this will be a major step to bring new people into the local chapters and to help them better understand what direct marketing really is," said Hank Hoke, founder of IDMC. Helping build local membership and awareness of the business will hopefully bring back the excitement of days past. Co-founder Dick Shaver, a world renowned seminar provider and author on database marketing and consumer-guided marketing, is excited about the concept and training system. Consumer-guided loaded research is the new wave that will finally put to rest the ugly phrase "junk mail." Through Shaver's system, privacy issues will disappear along with irrelevant communications through the mail system. Knowing what customers want is the key. Knowing what to ask is another. Consumer-guided loaded research has been tested by Shaver for years. He has repeatedly registered 60-90 percent return when following his design. Shaver has taught to over 8,000 people worldwide and is absolutely convinced his method is right on the money.
