Swedish furniture giant IKEA is apparently still eyeing New Rochelle as a possible third location in the New York metropolitan area.
The company is searching for a site that will offer its New York customers an additional location to complement its two existing stores in Elizabeth, N.J., and Hicksville.
According to New Rochelle Mayor Timothy Idoni, IKEA is no longer considering the vacant 102,000-square-foot CostCo building on Palmer Avenue, which the company vacated when it moved to the Home Depot complex on Route 1.
