The Illinois attorney general seeks the shutdown of a Dodge dealership in suburban Chicago, claiming the store duped a 78-year-old woman with poor vision and without a driver's license into buying a 2003 Neon.
Suburban Dodge of Berwyn, Ill., faces a fine of $60,000 per alleged fraud violation instead of the usual $50,000. The potential penalties are greater because the customer is elderly and because the transaction was completed at her home, imposing additional disclosure requirements on the dealership.
