The increasing globalization of business has triggered the emergence of new technologies that are helping to "shrink" the world. The need for executives to travel to finalize business deals, make major decisions, and ake part in crucial meetings will soon be a thing of the past. The potential for organizing visual conferencing and the tools needed to conduct such meetings are on the rise. Companies now have the option of eliminating the expense of global air travel and hotel accommodation, and the costs associated with lost time and opportunity.
Teliris, a UK company, recently launched GlobalTable, a system for convening and holding meetings at different venues across the world. GlobalTable is based on the Interactive Telepresence[Symbol Not Transcribed] [trademark] framework, which is the result of extensive research into the physical and psychological aspects of meeting environments. This research investigated in detail how the human mind reacts to visual and audio cues under different circumstances.
