Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co (GNFC) has contracted Krupp Uhde to modernise and expand its 200,000 t/a nitric acid facility at Bharuch. The German firm, which built the original plant 10 years ago, will increase capacity to 250,000 t/a and install a BASF Denox system to reduce NOx emissions in the tail gas to below 100ppm. Completion of the revamp is set for August 1999.
