The honeymoon is definitely over for the dot-coms and their information techics.
As corporate layoffs threaten employee peace of mind (more than a half million jobs have been cut nationally since Sept. 11), the Jacksonville job market appears comparatively stable, particularly in the area of information technology.
"Seattle and San Francisco were hit very hard, but the market in Jacksonville is holding its own," said Guy Cuddihee, managing director for Modis Consulting. "We saw a little dip in November, but in December business has picked up. I feel confident that things will stay steady as companies reorganize and put the focus on where they arc going for 2002."
