Distributor now services more than 30 major e-tailers
Ingram Micro continues to pump resources and personnel into expanding its share of the e-taller marketplace.
The distributor last week unveiled a partnership with Amazon.com to provide back-end fulfillment for the e-tailer's online computer store. Add that to Ingram Micro's April deal to take on similar duties for BestBuy.com and the distributor now services more than 30 major e-tailers.
"I think it's our performance that drives e-tailers to us," says Guy Abramo, Ingram Micro CIO and chief strategist. "When you look at our performance, we by far outperform everybody else in the industry."
Abramo attributes the distributor's success in the e-tail market to its systems capabilities, logistics expertise and InsideLine, a proprietary tool that seamlessly integrates Ingram Micro's systems with an e-tailer's front end. InsideLine also gives buyers a realtime look into the distributor's inventory.
