Of all the business trends of the past decade, perhaps none -- possibly excepting reengineering -- is more closely associated with technology than knowledge management. KPMG's Chief Knowledge Officer Michael Turillo says "knowledge management cannot be done without technology."
Maybe not. But knowledge management is in danger of being perceived as so seamlessly entwined with technology that its true critical success factors will be lost in the pleasing hum of servers, software and pipes.
