INTERSOLV INC., a development-tool and middleware developer, may be responsible for the database connectivity in many systems running across the industry.
However, because the software the company delivers is mostly under the covers, or embedded in the system, you may not know it is there.
Yet, Intersolv's Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver software, known as DataDirect, is used by a virtual "who's who in the industry," said Dave Waller, product marketing director for Intersolv's data-warehousing group.
Many large companies have licensed Intersolv's technology. Waller said DataDirect covers more than 35 database systems and 110 different combinations of platforms and data stores.
