Editor's note: The following is a Q&A with Lenny Kopowski, Lodgic Homes CEO, a modular construction company bringing modular construction to the Gulf Coast apartment market with the $5.1 million St. Claude Elderly Apartments in the Upper 9th Ward. The project broke ground in the beginning of the year and is scheduled to wrap up in October or November.
Why modular?
Modular construction does have an inherent time savings in the construction duration of your project. In the multifamily application, the factory concept is especially optimized in the constant repetition of building "boxes." Once through design and engineering, factory production creates an ideal "assembly" line to construct the project in an enclosed and controlled environment.

We were very excited to work on this project when it was presented. Having the opportunity to build the first three-story apartment complex in our part of the country presented many challenges.
