Pineville-based Cleco Corp. last week named Michael Madison its new president and CEO. Madison, who was president and chief operating officer of generating subsidiary Cleco Power LLC, replaces David Eppler, who will retire this summer. Madison joined Cleco in October 2003.
The board believes Mike's record of success and the leadership qualities he has shown make him an excellent candidate to take over as CEO and president of Cleco, said Chairman J. Patrick Garrett. He has extensive experience in the industry and a unique combination of skills that will benefit our company for years to come.
Cleco's Board of Directors is expected to elect Madison officially at its May 5 meeting and make him a company director. Other expected management changes include appointing Dilek Samil as president and chief operating officer of Cleco Power. Samil is now executive vice president and chief financial officer. Kathleen Nolen, Cleco's treasurer and assistant corporate secretary, will be named CFO.
