As part of a five-year sponsorship, Intervoice, Inc. (NASDAQ:INTV), a provider of converged voice and data solutions, has established a research center at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) aimed at furthering the ease-of-use of voice technology and the humanization of automated conversation systems.
The Intervoice Center for Automated Conversational Technologies, located within UTD's Human Language Technology Research Institute in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, currently has two permanent employees, a linguist and a software engineer dedicated to its mission. Intervoice has equipped the center with a commercial interactive voice response (IVR) system to enhance the UTD curriculum as well as support research on natural conversational systems.
