There is a new flux of bright young people in the workplace who have successfully completed their studies as members of the Class of 2000.
Many are, for the very first time, considering an IRA, a 401(k) and other investment opportunities. Chances are that they will seek guidance from family members and work associates.
Investing in the stock market holds more allure and excitement for today's young adults than it did for their counterparts in past generations. Among the reasons is that it has become a popular topic in their homes, among friends, and in all forms of advertising - newspapers, television, radio, billboards, direct mail and e-formats.
Having written two books about the stock market, Dow 40,000... Strategies for Profiting from the Greatest Bull Market in History (McGraw-Hill, 1999) and The Dow 40,000 Portfolio, (McGraw-Hill, 2000), I am frequently asked to provide practical guidance to young people or to other neophyte investors.
