Abstract

According to IR-2010-4 and IR-2010-5, as of January 15, the IRS opened electronic filing and Free File for the 2010 filing season. Taxpayers can expect faster acknowledgments of accepted or rejected electronically filed individual returns during the 2010 filing season, the IRS announced. The IRS also plans to provide more specific explanations of errors causing e-filed returns to be rejected. Taxpayers filing their returns electronically can expect to receive their refunds in as few as 10 days, the agency predicted.
