The Cleveland Center for Joint Reconstruction at St. Vincent Charity Hospital has gone where no health care provider in the United States has gone before by successfully obtaining ISO 9001 certification.
ISO 9001 is a comprehensive set of quality assurance standards set by the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland. The internationally recognized standards traditionally have been used by manufacturers, although some European medical groups also have achieved ISO certification.
According to a database kept by Quality Systems Update, a newsletter that keeps track of ISO certification in the United States, the Center for Joint Reconstruction is the only health care group to have received the certification in this country.
