Jabber Inc.'s instant messaging servers are chatting up a storm.
The Denver-based developer of Internet communications infrastructure software announced that more than 9,000 companies have signed up to download its free 100-user instant messaging server, called JCP Express.
The server, which has been available on the company's Web site for eight months, is a limited-user version of the Jabber Communications Platform - the company's flagship product.
JCP Express allows as many as 100 registered users, full text messaging, group conference features and XML routing for real-time communications between software applications.
The server is being offered through a program called Jabber Everywhere, which was created to provide a way for enterprises both large and small - and software developers - to test out a commercial-quality version of Jabber's platform at no charge.
