The Kern County Employees' Retirement Association (KCERA) board approved hiring Myriad Asset Management to run $25 million, further boosting the $3.6 billion pension fund's direct hedge fund investments.
Myriad is a multi-strategy hedge fund run by Carl Huttenlocher and based in Hong Kong. Kern County's allocation will go into Myriad's Opportunities Master Fund, which invests in equities, corporate bonds, convertible securities, and equity and fixed-income derivatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
