Tennessee's oldest nursing home may leave its original location in South Memphis for a spot on Appling Road, where it can become integrated with the Bartlett community
Directors of King's Daughters & Sons Home are seeking state approval to relocate into a new $8.2 million, 58,000-squarefoot facility at 3568 Appling. The nursing home has a contract on 12 acres there, adjacent to a new baseball complex near Appling Middle School. The Bartlett Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved a special use permit, stating that a nursing home will be a valuable amenity for the city.
"We already have a paid-for facility, but the majority of the building is 50 years old; the newest part is 25 years old," says Ron Arrison, executive director.
