The 22 digital cameras in this review represent a vast price range. Consequently, two Editors' Choices were bestowed, one each for the high and midrange markets.
The CRN Test Center gave its Editors' Choice award to Kodak's high-end DCS 460 and its entrylevel DC-120. Both products yielded excellent electronic images, have price points that will fit most budgets and are supported with rewarding channel programs.
The Kodak DC-120 is not exactly an entry-level camera, although with a less-than $1,000 price, it should be considered one. Its maximum resolution of 1,280 x 960 is about four times the size of a basic 640 x 480 image-quite a bargain compared with the $2,500 Fuji DS-300, which has the same resolution.
The Kodak DCS 460, with its maximum resolution of 3,000 x 2,000, was by far the highest of all cameras tested and four times the resolution of the closest competitor. Although the price, at nearly $30,000, is quite high, no other camera offered such a complete list of professional features.
