The Adam's Mark hotel downtown is for sale, according to industry sources. The 910-room hotel is the latest property to join the more than a dozen Adam's Mark hotels put up for sale last month.
Fred Kummer, founder and chief executive of Creve Coeur-based HBE Corp., which owns the 22 Adam's Mark hotels nationwide, declined to comment on the potential sale of the St. Louis property, but Gary Andreas, a hotel consultant here, said several sources within the industry have confirmed the property is for sale.
"Comments made to me from representatives of the Marriott and Hilton hotel chains indicate they have been approached by HBE concerning interest in the St. Louis property," Andreas said. "I'd say it's a very safe assumption that any and all Adam's Mark hotels are available."
Kummer, however, said he has made no final decision on selling any of his hotels and would not spell out the timeline of any possible sale of the St. Louis property.
"I've taken the position here that I'm not going to make any statements relative to any of the Adam's Mark hotels until we're ready to say something definitive," Kummer said. "It's a volatile market...
