Leading West Coast Audio Facility Continues to Expand
Shrouded in secrecy, LA Studios, in Los Angeles, has big plans for the December debut of its fourth audio post production location. The buzz surrounding its unique decor has caused almost as much of a draw as the audio-for-television production work it's done for clients ranging from Disney and Dreamworks to Honda and MTV; in addition to the latest promos for the feature films Snake Eyes and Sas,ing Private Ryan.
Its signature sites have been wowing clients ever since the company opened a sumptuously elegant Hollywood facility to finesse TV spots in 1980, when shag carpeting passed for style. Its nearby Margarita Mix facility, a $10 million Mexican Cantina-styled showplace, set the tone for TV advertising in 1990. And in 1997, Santa Monica became host to Zona Playa, a beach-casual boutique for economical audio post.
"We're not just opening a new facility, we're bringing the Margarita Mix culture to the Westside," announced the company's chief operating officer Jesse Melli.
New audio production workstations, called "Postations," will take center stage at the new Margarita Mix facility that LA Studios plans to open in Santa Monica.
Made by Digital Studio Processing of New South Wales, Australia, the Postation (PC32VRC) has been billed as a "revolutionary" digital audio production system by user and maker alike.
