A new 1040 Tax Analyzer will help preparers identify any returns that are impacted by changing regulations.
Eager to shepherd its customers towards a paperless office environment, Lacerte is : launching a Document Management System this season. Priced at $300, it will integrate with the vendor's Tax programs and Tax Planner.
"This tool will help our customers reduce the costs associated with storage space, printing costs, filing costs, and other costs related to filing and retrieving documents," says Karl Grass, vice president and general manager of Intuit Professional Tax.
Featuring backup and archiving functionality, DMS allows the practitioner to save tax returns and tax plans as PDF files. The user also has the ability to scan documents (W-2s, 1099s, etc.) for storage in a client's password-protected folders, and can place electronic annotations on saved documents. Files from other applications can be saved as well.
Acceptance will be driven by the number of clients that have scanners. The company found in an initial test that only one out of six firms approached had a scanner.
