A Philadelphia restaurant location with a long pedigree is undergoing a major facelift - yet again.
Lamberti's Cucina, at 212 Walnut St. in Society Hill, is amid a $1 million renovation that will include an update of the decor and menu. The new name will be Positano Coast, after the fishing village in Italy where owner Aldo Lamberti was raised.
If a restaurant could have a genealogy, this would be yet another generation. Since 1980, the location has been home to seven restaurants, including City Lights, City Bites and Pasta Blitz. Each has reflected the mood of the day - in decor, menu, name and clientele.
"You have the changes in Old City - a younger crowd and better dining," said Lamberti, who has been responsible for three of the restaurants. He owns nine eateries in New Jersey and three in Delaware.
