The proverbial stigma of the car salesman with the plaid blazer and white shoes is still a hard image to overcome in the automotive industry - even if your dealership is an award-winning, community-minded and well-established business in West Seattle.
Huling Bros. Auto Center - which over the years has weathered everything from the gas crisis to high interest rates - has been operating in West Seattle since 1946 when Steve and Tom Huling's father and uncle, Dale and Darryl, respectively, started the business as a Chrysler dealership.
"We've had guys working here who've told us they've met a girl they're serious about, but were afraid to tell her that they sold cars for a living," said Steve Huling, who is president of three Huling Bros. dealerships, all in West Seattle, which he co-owns with his brother, Tom.
