Laser printers have become a commodity instead of a rarity, but there are still some units that stand out for their flexibility and performance. The NEC Silentwriter Model 95, usable with both PCs and Macs, earned four stars in our last laser-printer Buyer's Guide (July 1992 issue) because of the magnitude and quality of its features. Among them are its built-in support of both PostScript Level II and PCL 5 to accommodate nearly every application's demands. We agree that it will take some work by other manufacturers before they surpass this printer in value and attributes--especially at a low street price of around $1,300.
