MOOD DESCRIBED AS 'UPBEAT'
The auction of Pugh Shows of Lancaster, Ohio, one of the largest carnivals in the country, was completed by Norton Auctioneers of Coldwater, Mich., with the third phase Feb. 19.
It took three auctions to complete the process. The first, in Columbus, Ohio, resulted in 24 contracts being sold as a package to John Robertson's J&J Amusements of New Middletown, Ohio, and retired carnival owner Dick Carl.
In one of the largest transactions in history, Jeff Pugh had purchased Carl's Crown Amusements three years earlier. Carl and J&J paid $652,700, which included a 7% fee for Norton Auctioneers, and another 10% tacked on to the entire package.
