IT MANAGERS at organizations that use large-scale, multiplatform applications who are looking to strategically deploy Java should evaluate Borland International's JBuilder Client/Server Suite, Version 1.01. Added support for CORBA and version control, along with greatly improved relational data handling, makes it a good choice for team development.
This version of JBuilder combines all of the features found in the Professional Edition of JBuilder 1.0, which I reviewed last fall, along with new enterprise support (See "Newest Java IDEs from Borland and Sybase are equally impressive,' Sept. 15,1997, page 19.)
Some of Borland's Java tool rivals, most notably Sybase, have had these kinds of enterprise features in place since last year. But even though Borland is playing catch-up, this release of JBuilder is well worth the wait because Borland has done a superior job integrating its enterprise support.
I found the JBuilder Client/ Server development interface as equally well-designed and productive as its cohort in JBuilder 1.0, Professional Edition. Creating JavaBeans, applets, or...
